Georgia Chapman

Dover, NH- Georgia Sintz Chapman, "Bunki" , 74, of Dover passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Dover. She died from complications caused by cancer which was diagnosed in December 2020. Georgia was born Nov. 5, 1946 to George W. and R. Virginia (Hersom) Sintz. She was a 1964 graduate of Spaulding High School and a 1968 graduate of Keene State College. She was especially proud to have been able to self-fund her college expenses. She married Carl R. Chapman, Jr. in 1967 and made her home in Dover with him for 54 years. They had 2 sons Gregory P. of Londonderry, NH and Michael S. of Windham, ME. Bunki was involved in all aspects of her boys countless sports and activities. She believed once a commitment was made it was to be honored to the end. Being a team mother in little league and youth hockey allowed her a direct connection to many youths. She was thoughtful and generous to all who knew her and believed strangers were friends you did not yet know. Her teaching career began at the New East Rochester School in 1968 as third grade teacher and lasted for 40 years. She became a regular substitute teacher for the next 11 years. In that time she saw many changes. She made a huge impression on every student she was blessed to have. They shared her love of nature and her immense love of owls and chipmunks. Many students had their first taste of venison and "stone soup" as she brought these into her classroom. She was honored to be named "Teacher of the Year" by her peers. She loved teaching all forms of poetry and her students were often named winners in the Foster's Holiday Writing Contests. She fostered a love of reading by sharing her favorite books with young and old. She produced the East Rochester School yearbooks for a number of years and was proud of the photos she took of school events. Of special interest was the sponsorship of the Annual May Fair celebration. She had a special talent for craft and sewing projects, especially ones where children could feel success. Georgia was proud of the album she created to take to auto shows with the family's Antique 1936 Ford. The car was a hit with many of the older folks who shared their stories of the good old days. Her trips to Washington D.C. were highlights in her life. Her son placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown as a part of Wreaths Across America and a second trip allowed her to share the majesty of Washington D.C. and Arlington with her grandson, Nicholas and sister, Susie and her grandson, Connor. A treasured summer occurrence was always refreshing, known as ladies-week-away it allowed Mom, Ginny and girls Bunki, Susie and Chris a fun adventure to the coast of Maine and Prince Edward Island. Her early years were special indeed. Spending summers on Bean Mountain in Center Ossipee giving her a love of New Hampshire's beauty. Members of her family include her husband Carl, sons, Gregory and companion Nicole Poitras of Londonderry, NH, Michael of Windham, ME; siblings, George V. Sintz and wife Christene of Arizona, J. Susan Edgerly and companion, Bob Newcombe of New Durham, NH; mother-in-law, Florence Dostie; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Paul) Ramsey, Julie Rasche (Butch); brother-in-law, Richard Dostie and wife Rita; nieces and nephews, Scott Edgerly (Lynda) , Sheila Kilburn, Sean Sintz, Morgan Edgerly and wife Kim, Katherine Nickerson and husband Chuck, Stacey Ramsey, Kelly Ratte' and husband Chris, Zachary Smith and wife Amanda, Adam Dostie and wife Marguerite, Thomas Dostie; several great nieces , great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brother-in-law, Rolly Edgerly, Sr., nephews, Rolly Edgerly, Jr and Shayne Sintz ; niece, Sara Edgerly. As quoted "You are one of the most beautiful people I have known and one of my fashion icons. Not only your physical beauty and grace but also your spiritual grace. You have this gift of making others feel laden, loved and heard. Your compassion and love just seeps into every interaction I have experienced or witnessed. " Private burial services will be held at the Rochester Cemetery and her beloved "Mountain Retreat" in Center Ossipee, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgia's memory may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 178 Farmington Road, Rochester, NH.
