Harold Edward Chisholm

Rochester NH- Harold Edward Chisholm, 87, of Rochester died May 2, 2013 at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born May 17, 1925 in Rochester NH, he was the son of the late Clyde and Hattie (Rolfe) Chisholm. Harold was a lifelong resident of Rochester. He is a graduate of Spaulding High School class of 1943. After high school he served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was employed as an accountant for many area businesses and also served as the city assessor in Rochester for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Elks Lodge 1393, VFW, Humane Lodge 21 and the Bektash Temple. He served on the board of directors for the Seacoast area Red Cross, was past president of Rochester Youth Football, Farmington Fish and Game, Cocheco Valley Sportsmen's Association and the Rochester Athletic Association. He also served in the NH House of Representatives. Harold was an avid baseball, basketball and football player, having played on many championship teams and was inducted into the Rochester Elks Sports Hall of Fame. Members of his family include his wife of 64 years, Marion (Ellis) Chisholm of Rochester, his sons; Michael Chisholm and his wife Nancy of Milton and Fred Chisholm and his wife Betty of Rochester; his grandchildren include three granddaughters; Darcy Young and husband Joe, Tammy Baggs, Holly Leeman and husband Aaron. Three grandsons; Derek Congram, Brandon Congram, Cody Chisholm and wife Amy. His Great grandchildren include Jake and Ben Young, Ava and Brody Leeman, Summer Kate Congram, Jace Congram and Allie Mae Congram. He is survived by a brother, Fred H. Chisholm of Rochester and was predeceased by his sisters; Phyllis Moulton and Dorothy Joy. He enjoyed life and the company of his family. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and in years past could be found trolling the waters of NH's lakes and ponds. His passing will leave the world a shade darker, except for the light of his smile in our hearts. Family flowers only, In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital. Calling hours are from 9:30 -10:30 on Monday, May 6, 2013 with the funeral service to follow at 10:30 in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home Inc, 86 South Main St, Rochester NH 03867. Burial will in the Old Cold Spring Cemetery following the funeral.
