John F. Keenan

Dover- Our dear sweet John joined with God on Tuesday, February 8th, with his loving wife by his side. His last days were peaceful, surrounded by familiar voices and gentle touches. Born in Dover, NH, August 3, 1927, he was the son of Albert H. and Blanche Keenan. He married the love of his life, Audury Strachan, on March 25, 1950. He proudly served his country, joining the Navy during WWII, and the a Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Public Service Co. in 1987, after 27 years of service. He proudly received his High School Diploma in 2001 from Governor Jean Shaheen with his family present. His love of family was most important to him. Although Audury and John never had children, they had the love of the many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. His love will be forever in our hearts. He loved spending his time hunting, poolside with all his kids, family gatherings, which there were many, and of course his gee-dunk pile. His pleasure in life was helping others in whatever way he could. He was such a generous man. We know he will always be our guardian angel, so we can all look up to heaven and smile. We love you so very, very much. Members of his family include his wife of 61 years Audury Keenan of Dover. His two sister Ellen Rand and May Sullivan both of Rochester. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. His in laws Arthur and Constance Dugal, Arlene Gregoire, Mary Twombly, Ronald and Jacqueline La Vallee, and Norman and Becky Bibeau He was preceded in death by his two brothers Arthur Keenan, Robert Keenan, and one sister Barbara Brombrec. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Homeless Center for Strafford County, P.O. Box 7306, Rochester, NH 03839 Visitation will be held Monday, February 14, 2011 from 10 AM to 10:30 AM at the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main Street, Rochester, NH. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11 AM in the St. Mary Church, Lowell Street, Rochester, NH with Fr. Daniel Sinabaldi, pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be private. We would like to offer our deepest thanks to the staff at Rochester Manor for their love and care of John. Also the Wentworth Douglas Hospice for their support and watchful eye in such a difficult time. Thank you all.
