Julia Lowe Burrows, age 81, died Saturday September 8. A resident of Barrington for 49 years, she is survived by her husband W. Richard Burrows. She has two children, W. Richard Burrows, Jr of Milford, MA, and Julia Ann Boyer married to James Boyer of Horse Shoe, NC, with 3 grandsons, Nicholas, Christopher and Benjamin. Julia was born in Watertown, NY, to William Ralph Lowe and Muriel Carson Lowe. She was the fourth of five children and spent most of her childhood growing up in Buckfield, ME. She is survived by her younger sister, Jane McGuire, of Auburn, Me. In 1959, she graduated from UNH with a BS in Occupational Therapy. This was the beginning of a long and rewarding career that included working at the NH State Hospital, UNH and in numerous schools up to her retirement in 1999. She was also very active in professional organizations including being a representative of the American Occupational Therapy Association and a member of the NH Occupational Therapy Association board of directors from 1992-2005. She was also a member of the Rural District Health Visiting Nurses Association. Julia participated in many committees and was an advocate for her profession. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women and maintained her license with continuing education up to her death.As an active participant in community organizations, during her years of living in Barrington she had been a Scout leader, member of Centennial Grange, Barrington Chapel of Nativity, TOPS, Barrington Woman's Club and the Woman's Club president from 2003-2005. She also was involved with the NH Association for the Blind.Her funeral will be Saturday September 15th at 2:30 pm at Edgerly Funeral Home in Rochester.
