Marian Louise (Patch) Veno - Rochester, NH

Marian L. Veno, 97 years young, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Born on June 21, 1928, in Sanford, Me, the daughter of the late Everett and Abbie (Smith) Patch. She resided in Rochester most of her life. She worked at Fernald Hackett’s, Grants Department Store, Wyandotte Mills Fabric Store and Rich’s Department Store, retiring in 1991.

She was actively involved in the community, being named Rochester’s Citizen of the Year in 2000; a member of the Rochester Emblem Club #40 serving as President, Chaplain, Literacy Chair, Press Correspondent; the State and Supreme Emblem Club; Homemakers Auxiliary as President; the Golden Age Club; the Granite State Choral Society; and the First United Methodist Church of Rochester where she had an active membership for 70+ years, serving as the Christian Ed Coordinator, UMW President, taught Sunday school for 70 years, served on the Organ Restoration Committee, was a member of the bell choir and adult choir. She actively participated in roller skate dancing in her young adult years and a bowling league throughout her adult life.

She is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Bernard J. Veno, her son Kenneth R, Veno, her Patch brothers Howard, Everett, Philip, Norman, Clarence, Raymond, Harland, Bernard, Donald, sister Dorothy Homuth, and infant siblings Arthur, Annie, Laurence and Arnold.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Donna (Kenneth) Downes, Diane (Melvin) Fenderson, grandchildren Robert (Michelle) Veno, Kathie Veno, Jason (Kendra) Veno, Joseph Veno, Rebecca (Pat Robinson) Fournier, Michael (Michelle Downes), Byrnese (Eli) Craig, Daniel Knapp, 18 great-grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren, another one on the way next March, sister-in-law Olney Patch of CA, nieces, nephews, numerous friends and a very special best friend Pat Waskiewicz.

Visiting hours will be at Edgerly’s Funeral Home, on Thursday, October 16th from 5-8 pm.

A celebration of Marian’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 34 South Main Street, Rochester, NH on Friday, October 17th at 11:00 am with fellowship after. Family burial will be private.

The family wishes to thank the Studley Home of Rochester and Cornerstone VNA for the wonderful care and friendship they have given to Marian in the past months.

Memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church (Steeple Fund Restoration or Christian Education), Cornerstone VNA Lights of Love, Rochester Emblem Club #40 (literacy program) or the charity of one’s choice.
