Rochester – Matilda Jean Peters, 67, passed away Saturday October 11, 2025, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born May 4, 1958, in Rumford, ME, she was the daughter of the late Richard Sr. and Barbara (Jenkins) Farrington.
Jeannie had worked at Hutchinson Sealing Systems and Davidson Rubber for many years. After retirement she worked part time at Cumberland Farms in Somersworth where she had regular customers who always appreciated her sense of humor and caring spirit. She enjoyed crocheting, playing Bingo, and trips to the casino, but above all her greatest joy came from time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jeannie loved her family and was very much loved by them, her friends, and anyone she came in contact with.
Members of her family include her longtime significant other Tony Williams of Rochester, NH; her daughter Melinda Patten and husband Matthew of Gonic, NH; and her son David Chamberlain and wife Jennifer Siple of Greenland, NH; her cherished grandchildren Brianna, Cody and spouse Cassie, Izzabelle, Justin and Benjamin, Gianna, and Sofia. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren and her siblings Richard Farrington Jr., Mary Young, Gail Leary and Debbie Dalton as well as many uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Jessica Chamberlain.
Family and friends may visit Monday October 20, 2025, from 11 AM – 1 PM at the R.M. Edgerly funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.
A reception will be held at immediately following the service at the American Legion, 188 Eastern Ave, Rochester, NH to which all are invited.
