Rosemarie Sheehan Carroll

Portsmouth NH- Rosemarie Sheehan Carroll died Sunday July 3, 2011 peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was born on January 27, 1926 in Brockton, MA to Frank Tevlin and Mary (O'Brien) she graduated from Brockton High School in 1943 and attended Brockton Business College before going to work for The New England Telephone Company as chief clerk. In 1950 she married Thomas F. Sheehan also of Brockton and raised a family of six children. In 1983 she married her husband Thomas F. Carroll after having retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Portsmouth. Their years together were extremely happy with residences in both NH and Florida. They travelled extensively both abroad and in the US, including many times to Ireland, the country of their ancestry. Their introduction to sailing was on their ketch, "The Toroca" which they sailed in the Florida waterways and to NH via the Intracoastal for several summers. She was a former member of the Portsmouth Yacht Club. In the past she volunteered for both the VNA and Hospice programs in Vero Beach Florida and also a pink lady at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was a life-long Democrat and served as treasurer of the Rockingham County Democratic Committee, chair of the Stratham Democratic Committee and was active in the campaigns of state and national democrats. She was a member of the Portsmouth Elks. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her especially herr grandchildren Jack and Kate Constantine. Besides her husband of nearly 29 years, she is survived by six children, Paula Miller and her husband Herbert of Swanzey NH, Catherine Chaddock and her husband Arty of Roswell, GA, Marjorie Hinton and her husband Rob of Las Cruces NM, Maura Sheehan of Eliot Maine, two sons Peter Sheehan and his wife Lisa of Greenland NH, Michael Sheehan of Phoenix AZ. Her godchild and niece Patricia Leary Shepherd of Norwell MA, Five grandchildren, Jack and Kate Constantine of Eliot Maine, Kendra and Tiana Hinton of Las Cruces NM and Amber Sheehan of Methuen MA. Also, six step-children Thomas Carroll of Manchester, Pam House of Bedford NH, Peter Carroll of Lebec CA, Richard Carroll of Hampton, Mary DeFreze of Hampton, and Marc Carroll of Portsmouth. Also her former son in law, Timothy J Constantine of Rollinsford NH. She also has eleven step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by an infant son Thomas Sheehan, her beloved sister Katharine Tevlin Leary and her step children Susan Carroll Cuveillier and Kevin Carroll. There will no calling hours. All are welcome to attend a memorial Mass Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10 am at the Trinity Anglican Church, 180 Rochester Hill Road Rochester NH. Reception to follow at The Portsmouth Elks. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032 Arrangements are under the direction of the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, Rochester NH.
