Adeline June Wheeler

June 28, 1932 — October 23, 2018

Adeline June Wheeler, 86 of Barrington, NH was welcomed into Heaven peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday October 23rd at Wentworth Douglass Hospital. She was born June 28, 1932 at Frisbee Memorial Hospital to John & Clara Woods Norman. Adeline Norman married the love of her life, Arthur Joseph Wheeler, November 27, 1948.  They had two sons together Arthur Joseph Wheeler Jr. and Alan John Wheeler. Sadly, her husband passed away November 3, 1976 due to a massive heart attack. "Addie" worked at K-Mart in Rochester, NH for over 20 years where she made countless friends both in the store and the Rochester community. After managing the service desk for many years, she eventually agreed to be promoted to personnel manager before retiring in 1994.  She loved to make people laugh. For many years, she sang and performed with the Clementines (an all female chorus) both as a member of the complete chorus and in a quartet.  During shows, she would constantly interrupt the director with "Oh Frank..." and then proceed with hysterical jokes and antics for the audience.  Even after her health drastically declined she did not lose her wonderful sense of humor.  When the hospital doctor asked if she was allergic to anything, she replied, "Yes, I'm allergic to food...I eat it and break out in fat!"  It was one of her standard jokes that always made everyone chuckle. Adeline's biggest passion was the love she held for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent many summers swimming with them in her pool, painting ceramics, having picnic dinners on the porch, and hosting sleepovers just so she could listen to them giggle when they were supposed to be sleeping. As they got older she played PlayStation and Nintendo games with them because she was the "cool" grandma everyone wanted to hang out with. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She was always there for them and proud to share her love of them in every way she could. Adeline was predeceased by her infant brother and her parents John and Clara; and her sisters Shirley and Audrey.  She lost her oldest son, Arthur Jr, to cancer in March of 2013. She is survived by her youngest son Alan and his wife Ruth; daughter-in-law Frances; five grand children Antoinette (Toni), Virginia (Ginny), Angela, Jessica, and Adam; and Seven great grandchildren Clayton, Darian, Emily, Alyssa, Danica, Gabrielle (Gabby), and Delia. There is a memorial service planned for Monday October 29 at the Dover Baptist Church located at 151 Washington Street in Dover, NH at 3:00pm.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name and memory to the charity of your choice. "If we fully understood what Heaven was like we might want to go there before our time but God has appointed a time for each of us to live and die."  (Heb 9:27)
