In Loving Memory of Andy Reed

February 11 1966 - July 29 2026

Andrew Leon Reed, known by many as Andy, and by some as Andy-Dad, of Ossipee NH, passed on Wednesday, July 29th 2026. Andy was born February 11th, 1966, son of Janice Rand and Charles Reed. He is survived by his mother Janice Rand; his wife of 39 years, Janis (Hussey) Reed, who he raised his family with in Sanbornville NH; a daughter, Andrea, her husband Dylan Hamel, and his cherished biological granddaughter Robyn Hamel, who he just recently took joy in celebrating her second birthday with; a stepson, Mark Hall, who he often played cribbage with; stepson Rick Hall; and his first cherished grandchildren and great grandchild; his brother, Rick Reed and wife Vicky; brother Ronnie and his wife Sue; three sisters, Laurianne Rand, Jana Reed and Judi Lemond; many nieces and nephews who lovingly know him as Uncle Andy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Reed; his brother, Jim Reed; his sister, Merribeth, and husband Chris Gaudet; his sister, Kerrilyn Welch.

Andy grew up in Conway, NH and graduated from Crosby Kennet Senior High in 1984. In his youth he spent days with friends exploring the woods and Redstone Quarry near his home. He began raising pigeons in high school and continued to do so throughout his life.

Andy had a deep love and appreciation for nature. He enjoyed hiking, a hobby he shared with his daughter and took joy in seeing passed on to his granddaughter. He cultivated and maintained beautiful gardens. Andy shared his love of flowers with his family, surrounding them with lilies, lilacs, bleeding hearts, and many other blooms. He grew his own vegetables, saved and germinated seeds, and bred his own unique varieties of squash. A most treasured last day together was spent building a trellis with his daughter and planting beans with his granddaughter -a tradition that will continue every year in honor of his memory.

Andy was a sweet and sensitive soul, showing great compassion to friends and loved ones through losses and difficult times. He cared for family past, present and future, tended to family history, and contributed much to genealogical archives. He and his mother used to scour historical records and visit cemeteries to piece together family lines and connections.

He spent many years singing and drumming with Medicine Bear Drum alongside dear friends. His voice was powerful and moving when he sang, and for a time he served as their lead drummer. He had respect and honor in the powwow community.

He was a creative man. In his younger years, Andy enjoyed drawing, and later, made many beautiful necklaces and other jewelry. For a time he wove baskets out of birchbark. Always working with his hands, he built greenhouses, bird coops, and, most recently, a porch. He also enjoyed writing. He published two books of poetry, and in later years he wrote lyrics to over three hundred songs available to listen to on suno.com @andyman1966.

Andy leaves behind a legacy of skills and wisdom passed down to his daughter and, through her, to his granddaughter; a devoted love for his wife and family; warm connections and cherished memories with all who knew and cared for him; and a wealth of art and writing that will continue to tell his story. He is remembered as a bird man with a green thumb and a big heart.

A wonderful soul. A kind man. A good friend. A loving husband. The best dad. The best grandpa. Forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony is being held on Sunday August 30th at a friend’s home located at 371 Province Rd Barnstead NH 03218 at 3:00. This gathering is open to all friends, family, and loved ones.

A private burial at the Gordon Farm Cemetery in Moultonborough will follow.
