Arthur Abbott

Wakefield, NH/Beverly Hills, FL - Arthur Abbott, 82, loving husband, father, and grandfather, formerly of Lebanon, ME, passed away Monday October 24, 2011 following a period of failing health. Born May 15, 1929 in East Rochester, NH, he was the son of the late Roy and Bessie (Jones) Abbott. Mr. Abbott served in the US Army during the Korean War. He served 27 years as a postmaster, was an active member of the National League of Postmasters, and was appointed Postmaster of the Year. A former Lebanon selectman and owner/founder of Lebanon Sand and Gravel, Arthur also sold insurance and real estate. He was a dedicated Mason and enthusiastic harness racer.
