Barbara Newton

Barrington, NH- Barbara V. Newton,86, of Young Road died Tuesday Feb. 2, 2016 at Riverside Rest Home after a period of failing health. She was born May 22, 1929 in Dover, NH the daughter of the late Samuel and Ida (Cousteau) Hanscom. She grew up in Madbury and was a graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1946. She received her Associates Degree in Horticulture at UNH and was an avid gardner. She was an active member in her community serving on the Barrington School Board. Members of her family include daughters, Suzan Desmarais and Sharon Drew-Henson, both of Rochester; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Samuel "Buzzy" Hanscom, Jr, Dover, NH. She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Drew, Jr. and Steven Drew. A Memorial service will be held Saturday Feb. 6, 2016 at 11 in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH.
