Rochester - Barbara Marsh Sisco Hartmann Winkley, 89, went peacefully to the Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2010. She has now been freed from her pain. Born on March 21, 1921 in Colebrook, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Earl and Luna Sisco. She was predeceased by her sister, Gwendolyn Brown, and her brother John Sisco. Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of sixty years, Harvel E. Winkley of Rochester; four loving children Susan Steele of Troy, NY, Sandra Arnone (David) of Cairo, NY, Sarah Hemendinger (David) of East Greenwich, RI and Steven Winkley (Carol) of Averill Park, NY. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Andrew, Katelyn and Timothy Steele, Jessi and Joel Arnone, Ashley and Morgan Hemendinger, Samuel and William Winkley; and great-grandchildren Rohan and Braelyn Steele. A graduate of Pratt Institute in New York City, Barbara served her country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Naval Hospital Corps. Barbara was most happy in her career as a homemaker. A talented seamstress, she made her daughters' clothing including prom gowns and wedding dress, and taught sewing to 4-Hers in Penacook, N.H. She volunteered with Girls Scouts in Wynantskill, N.Y. and was a faithful member of churches in Milford, NH, Penacook, NH, Wynantskill, NY, Syracuse, NY and most recently of First United Methodist Church of Rochester, NH. Barbara enjoyed many trips abroad with "Wink" and friends, and vacationed with family each year at the camp at Pine River Pond. Sunday dinners and family gatherings were her favorite times. Barbara liked to play the piano and instilled her love of music to her entire family. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867 A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church, 34 South Main Street, Rochester, NH with Rev. James A. Cann officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester, NH in the spring In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Rochester Memorial Fund.
