Bettie Louise Johnson Lebanon, Maine- Bettie Louise (Sanford) Johnson died on Thursday, March 24, 2022 following a period of failing health in Colorado while visiting with her daughter and family. Born July 23, 1937, the daughter of the late James Andrew and Mary Louise (Gibbs) Sanford of Petersburg, VA. Bettie grew up in Petersburg until she met the love of her life, David E while he was stationed at a nearby Army base. The newly married couple then moved to Massachusetts where they raised their family until moving to Lebanon, Maine. Bettie was a long-standing member of Grace Baptist Church in East Rochester serving her Lord and Savior there for 40 years. In her life time she worked with Girl Scouts, Child Evangelism Fellowship and the Good News Clubs as well as Vacation Bible School, Nursery and Junior Church programs. She also hosted many Ladies Bible studies both in her home and her church. Bettie lost the love of her life, David E in 2017 but is now reunited as they journey with their Lord in heaven. Bettie leaves a daughter, Teresa and Glenn Nelson of Fort Collins, CO and their sons, David A Johnson of Brookline, NH, Michael and Charlotte Johnson of Barrington, NH, and Mark and Valerie Johnson of Farmington, NH; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit Friday, April 8, 2022 from 11-2 PM at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street Rochester, NH. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday April 9, 2022 at 1 PM at Grace Baptist Church. East Rochester, NH with Pastor Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery
