Strafford – Billye Murry Waldron, 94, passed away Tuesday October 21, 2025, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born October 9, 1931, in Canyon Texas and raised in Happy Texas. She was the daughter of the late Carroll R. and Audrey Lee (Markham) Hancock.
After high school, Billye attended college for journalism. She met George in 1953 and flew bravely alone to the territory of Alaska to marry George. Billye spent her married years as a military wife (25 years) as her children were growing up. She later worked as the Town Clerk in Strafford for 16 years. She was a member of numerous clubs: Women’s Club, Community Club, Book Club, the Red Hat Club and the Ladies Circle. She was very involved with the Bow Lake Baptist Church in Strafford, raising money for various missions. When she stood in front of the congregation, her forceful speeches were very convincing! She would make pies for high donations. Her fundraising efforts included mission work, many years of selling used/donated books, and the church cookbook which included a large selection of her well-known, delicious recipes. She made candy during the holiday season and so good that the UPS drivers would stop to see if their gifts of candy were ready whether they had a delivery for her or not! We’re sure that they’re eating good in heaven! She also spent many years contributing to the grange hall bean supers. She was famous for her delicious beans! She had a love for reading and was an avid collector of cameos and tea pots.
Members of her family include her children George C. Waldron of Strafford, NH; Gary E. Waldron and wife Sherry of Strafford, NH; and James “Matt” Waldron and wife Diane of Land O’ Lakes, FL; her grandchildren, Jonathan A Waldron and his wife Beth, Elizabeth A Swanwick and her husband Blaise, her great grandchildren Isabel, Olivia, Mabel, and Graham and her sisters Charlotte Morris, Carrollee Waters and Susie Lilley and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband George Ivan Waldron and her siblings Clyde, Betty Jean, and Delores (Jackson).
