Bradley Byron Loomis

Bradley (Brad) Byron Loomis, 87, of Rochester passed away on March 1, 2023 at the Hyder  Hospice House in Dover after a period of declining health.  He spent his last days on earth with friends and family. Brad was born on December 21,1935 in Franklin, Pennsylvania.  He was the son of the late Earl Loomis and Helen (Bradley)  Loomis Snyder.  He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth (Ricker) Loomis, son Bradley Loomis and wife Sher of Conway, NH, daughter Lori Lingard and husband Brian of Shrewsbury, MA, daughter Leslie Loomis of Exeter, NH, grandsons Spencer Lingard of No. Grafton, MA and  Wyatt Lingard of Shrewsbury, MA, brother T.  Richard Loomis and wife Nancy of Franklin, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister Sarah (Loomis) Owen and his twin sister Ruth (Loomis) Baker. Brad was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School in Franklin, PA and St. Anselm's College in Manchester NH.  He was very proud of his service as a US Marine.  After the Marine Corps. Brad went on to have a fifty year career in law enforcement.  He was a police officer in Rochester for 25 years, retiring as Deputy Chief.  He went on to work as a Deputy Sheriff for Strafford County and then later for the Strafford County Court System.  He touched many lives in his years of service. Brad was known for his gift of gab and his sense of humor.  He loved his family and enjoyed lifting weights (for 60 years), sports and dancing.  He coached PeeWee football and enjoyed going to football games at Spaulding High School. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Edgerly's Funeral Home in Rochester.  Calling hours will begin at 1:00 PM  with a service to follow at 2:00 PM.  Please join us to share memories of Brad. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Rochester Police Benevolent Association or Hyder House in Dover.
