Carl Downs

Lebanon, ME - Carl W. Downs, 90, went home to be with his Lord on March 25,2014, following a lengthy time of failing health. Carl was born October 11,1923 the son of Frank P. & Edna (Johnson) Downs. He was a graduate of the Lebanon Academy in West Lebanon,ME in 1940. Carl spent his younger years working in the timber/lumber business with his father. On March 27,1942 he married the love of his life, Evelyn M. Wallingford. In 1943 Carl proudly served his country in the Army Airforce as a truck operator hauling supplies in the 873 Chemical Co. in Normandy-Northern France-Rhineland-Italy and Central Europe during World War II. Upon his return home he continued to work with his father, then as a lead-man at Prime Tanning in Berwick,ME, at Great Falls Bleachery in Somersworth,NH and retired from Thompson Center Arms in Rochester,NH as a supervisor in the gun stock dept. In his retirement years Carl enjoyed wintering in FL with Evelyn. He loved spending time with family and friends, watching the news, waiting...
