Caryn Martin

November 29, 1963 — March 31, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Caryn Bernier Martin, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Caryn was a resident of Newington, New Hampshire and passed away surrounded by family and friends on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at the age of 60. She was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, to the late Arthur "Sonny" Bernier and Irma Bernier.  She was the third of four children and grew up in Epping, New Hampshire. Caryn was a remarkable, smart, witty, and loving individual who shared her light wherever she went.  She had an unwavering spirituality and was a kind and gentle soul.  She loved life and fought a courageous battle with cancer right to the very end.  Caryn had a way of spinning any story she told. She had a hilarious sense of humor and brought joy to many. She leaves behind her loving children: Anthony Martin and partner Ashley Meissner; Timothy Martin; Erika Hume; and her beautiful grandchildren; Madisyn and Savannah Martin.  She is predeceased by her son, James Hume, and sister, Laurie Ann King. She will be forever missed by her sister, Cheryl Spinney and brother-in-law Robert Spinney; brother, Robert Bernier and his partner Bobbi-Jo Morin; and Cousin Terri Ann Bernier. Caryn cherished her time with her nieces and nephews: Danielle Petlick and husband Michael Petlick; Holly Spinney and companion David Nanos; Robby Spinney and companion Leanne Hurd; James King and wife Felicia King; Jacob King; Sunnie King and companion Justin Neal; Julia Munroe and companion Daniel Olsen and her five great nieces and nephews, William King, Zuri Petlick, Isla Petlick, Darrel King Hansen, Axel Neal, and many bonus nieces and nephews. Caryn was a genuine and caring person, and words cannot describe the appreciation we have for the wonderful love and care she provided to Richard Spinney ("Pup"), our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather. Caryn was making plans for her future and was not ready to travel to the afterlife, but it is said that one who dies on Easter Sunday goes straight to heaven and the person is a blessing.  She was certainly a blessing to all of us and deserves a special place in paradise. She was loved deeply by her family and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held on April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newington Town Church, 316 Nimble Hill Road, Newington, NH. A Reception will immediately follow at the Newington Town Hall, 205 Nimble Hill Road, Newington, NH.
