Catherine Lanoix

ROCHESTER ; Catherine Lanoix, 85, formerly of Church Street, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Langdon Home in Dover after a period of failing health.Born Nov. 16, 1923, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Goffin) Lanoix. She had resided in this area most of her life and was a graduate of Spaulding High School, class of 1941. She attended McIntosh College in Dover and worked many years as a tax auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. She loved to travel and volunteered as a driver for the American Cancer Society. Catherine was a member of the St. Mary Church in Rochester and the Altar and Rosary Society.Members of her family include her nieces, Medora Herbert of West Lebanon, Mary Judith Hurd of Newport, Vt.; nephews, Thomas Lavoie of Brookfield, James Lavoie of Plattsburg, N.Y. She was predeceased by sister, Mary Louise Lavoie of Dover, and brother, Robert Lavoie of Rochester.Family and friends may visit Thursday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Lowell Street, Rochester, with Fr. Pierre Baker, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Rochester in the spring.
