BARRINGTON - Charles "Chuck" Fournier, 71, peacefully passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, N.H., after a courageous battle with cancer.Born Oct. 10, 1938, in Rochester, N.H., he was the son of the late Wallace Victor and Lucia (Dube) Fournier. He has resided most of his life in Barrington, N.H. Chuck was a 1958 graduate of Spaulding High School and a state football champ. He then spent time serving in the U.S. Navy before going on to graduating from the Culinary Institute of America (C.I.A.). He was an accomplished executive chef who worked, managed and mentored at many hotels including The New England Center in Durham, N.H., and The Ashworth by the Sea in Hampton, N.H., where he was awarded the title Head Executive Chef of the Piscataqua Chapter. He retired from UNH Food Services in 2001. That gave him plenty of time to pursue his love of hunting and fishing which he always did with his brother "Chick." He loved the North Country and had a special passion for all things in Nova Scotia. His best spent time was with his wife, Wanda, and on his lobster boat; at sea was where he was most content. A very private man, fair and conscientious leader, he was always eager to teach others who were willing to learn what he knew. This man will be greatly missed, but also know, he has left his mark. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Wanda (Davis) Fournier of Barrington, N.H.; two daughters, Leanne Michelle Fournier and her companion, Jason Boute of Farmington, N.H., Nicole Leigh Wall and her husband Barry of Barrington; his only brother Wallace "Chick" Fournier and his wife Louise (Snow) Fournier of Barrington; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. The funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the R.M.
