TILTON ; Charles L. King, passed March 1, 2009, in the arms of his loving children at the N.H. Veteran's Home, Tilton. He was born in Richmond, Va., on Oct. 4, 1926. He was brought up on his grandparents, (Keating) Dairy Farm. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and after the war he settled in to the Rochester area with his beloved wife, Ruth D. Brooks, and started a family. He was known as a carpenter, construction supervisor, and millwright in various industries during his working years. He was proud of his "hands on" involvement on the Strawbery Banks Restoration Project in Portsmouth, various projects at UNH, and various construction projects at Pease Air Base and the seacoast area.He was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth D. Brooks; his sister, Marie Benson of Manchester, Conn., and his other sister, Lucille Whitaker of Somersworth. He is survived by his three children, Susan Cariker and her husband, Thomas, of East Rochester; his son, Danny King and his wife, Linda, of Lebanon, Maine; and his other daughter, Kathy Pelletier and her husband, Edward, of East Rochester; six grandchildren, Mike, Stacey, Tracey, Danny, Bruce, and Katie; nine great-grandchildren, P.J., Dominqe, Courtney, Victoria, Shannon, Joey, Brucie, Alyson, and Morgan; two great-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Connor.Honorable mention to his longtime neighbors and dear friends, Joe and Carol Ralston of over 30 years and the Capodetrias's of Rochester.The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the great staff at the NH Veteran's Home in Tilton. While Charlie was only a resident for a short period of time, he made many friends with his fellow veterans and the staff. Also sincere gratitude for the staff at Beacon Hospice of Concord, who gave Charlie and his immediate family great assistance at the time of his demise.
