Craig Joseph Casavant, 49, of Rochester passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 after a sudden illness. He was the son of Carol (Scheu) Stevens and J. Paul Casavant. Craig grew up and lived most of his life in Rochester attending Spaulding High School and playing football for the Raiders. He also had fond memories of his time in Civil Air Patrol as a youth and had a love of history throughout his life. Craig earned his commercial driver's license and enjoyed his time working at Simplex Wire and Cable and Pike Industries. He was a loving and proud uncle to five nieces and nephews, Danielle, Nathan, Matthew, David and Morgan; and well as a caring godfather to Ryan and David. Craig was an animal lover and had a very caring bond with his cats, especially Max, Sara and Mr. Pickles. Everyone who knew Craig loved him. He had a quick wit and often had everyone laughing. He will be greatly missed. Craig is survived by his mother Carol Stevens and her husband Mark of Newfield, ME; his father J. Paul Casavant of Somersworth; siblings, Andrea Learnard of Rochester, Christine Simco of Hollis and Jessica Brackett of Somersworth. A private Memorial Service will be held for immediate family to honor and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that anyone wishing to remember Craig make a donation in his name to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, 262 County Farm Rd, Dover, NH, in memory of his dedication and love of the animals he cherished.
