Daniel W. MacKay, 54, passed away late on Monday, August 22, 2016. He was born December 23, 1961 in Rochester, NH to the late Elwin and Addie (Karcher) MacKay. Dan MacKay was a lot of things to many people. He started as a son, a brother, a friend, became a husband and father; and to his children, he was everything. Dan was always happiest when spending time with family, friends, and his dog Koda; however, he wouldn't be complete without a football in his hand or on the television nearby. He spent many years coaching his sons, Stephen MacKay, Dylan MacKay, and Payton MacKay, in football, baseball, and basketball with a brief stint in softball coaching his daughters, Stacia MacKay and Kayla Denney. He enjoyed nothing more than sharing his love of sports with his children, and later on his grandchildren. He was a passionate man who never did anything in half measures. He enjoyed the physical aspect of life and was extremely competitive both against other people and himself. He set very high goals for both. Dan was always quick with a smile, the first to open his arms for a hug, or to lend a hand to someone in need. Dan was a man of God. He was baptized later in life and was so proud of his faith, and his faith in God's plan. Dan will be remembered in the hearts of his sisters, Sharon Roberts, brother-in-law Dave Roberts, Betty Burke, Bonnie Favart, Julie Lanoix, and brother-in-law Peter Lanoix; his children, Stephen MacKay and wife Victoria of Wells, Maine; Stacia MacKay of Lebanon, Maine; Dylan and Payton MacKay both of Wells, Maine; Kayla Denney of Springvale, Maine; and his grandchildren Christian, Jocelyn, T.J, and Collin; as well as in the thoughts of his friends, co workers, and all those who knew and loved Dan Mackay. He was predeceased by his sister Kathy MacKay. SERVICES: Family and friends may visit Tuesday August 30, from 4-5 p.m., at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester, N.H.
