David Badger

May 20, 1922 — June 7, 2010

Rochester - David Franklin Badger, Sr., 88, of 7C Wellsweep Acres, passed away Monday evening, June 7, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 20, 1922, overseas as he liked to call it, on Martha's Vineyard Island (you have to go over seas to get there), the son of Charles Edward and Hattie Desire (Baird) Badger. David joined the Army on December 7, 1942, and served in World War II in France and Germany. He was a self-employed landscaper and a talented stone and brick mason; his masonry was like artwork and was well known in the area and admired by all who saw it. There are many local fountains, fireplaces, and buildings that are beautiful because of Dave Badger creations. David was well known for his sense of humor; his jokes and pranks were part of his everyday life. He loved life and all that it brought him. After he gave up his driver's license, he could be seen riding his scooter through downtown Rochester to visit his many friends. He was an adventurer, too, riding in a hot air balloon in for his 80th birthday, and riding roller coasters a few years later. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Charles and Robert, his son Darrell Wolcott and his wife Phyllis Arlene Badger. David loved his family and the Lord. He is survived by his sons David F. Badger, Jr., and his wife Cyndi, of Brooksville, FL, Charles E. Badger and his wife Julie of Cape Neddick, ME, daughters Bonita A. Styles and her fiancé David Saucier of Dover, and Barbara Badger of Rochester, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother Arthur Badger and his wife Jeanette of East Lebanon, ME, his sisters Carol Gilman and her husband Ronald of East Lebanon, ME, and Ruth Morris of New Durham, NH, and many nieces and nephews, his former wife and dear friend Dorothy Perron of Dover, and many friends. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people that came into his life and his home over the years to help care for him and the kind people at Frisbee Hospital and the Hyder House in Dover who made his last day exactly as he wished it to be. Calling hours are on Wednesday, June 9, from 4-8 PM at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH a celebration of David's life will be held on Thursday, June 10, at 11 AM in the chapel of the funeral home.
