Lebanon, ME - David Elton Johnson died on August 26, 2017 following a period of failing health surrounded by loved ones in his home.Born February 3, 1935 the son of A.J. Johnson and Marion E. (Ineson) Johnson of Barrington, NH.David grew up in Barrington and proudly served his country in the United States Army where he met and married his loving wife. Together they made their home in Pepperell, MA where they raised their family until moving to Lebanon, ME.David liked auto racing and had a passion for building, restoring and showing vintage cars. He loved vacationing with his family, leaving them with fond memories of good times.David also loved His Lord and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in East Rochester for over thirty years. He served in many compacities but mainly as a deacon and was made an honorary life-time deacon before he passed.David leaves his wife of almost sixty-one years, Bettie L. (Sanford) previously of Virginia, a daughter, Teresa and Glenn Nelson of Fort Collins, CO; their sons, David and Debra Johnson of Brookline, NH, Michael and Charlotte Johnson of Barrington, NH, Mark and Valerie Johnson of Farmington, NH, thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Family and friends may visit Wednesday Aug. 30, 2017 from 6-8PM at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH.The funeral service will be held Thursday Aug. 31, 2017, 10AM at Grace Baptist Church, 23 Main Street, E. Rochester, NH with Pastor RL Morgan officiating. Burial with military services will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery, Lebanon, ME.In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 23 Main Street, East Rochester, NH.
