Derald Goodwin

Farmington NH-Derald "Red" Goodwin Sr,78, of Ten Rod Rd died Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Maine Medical Center. Born May 17 1934 in Farmington NH he was the son of the late John and Odabelle (Willey) Goodwin II. Red has lived in Farmington since 1980 after moving from Rochester. He was employed as a pipe fitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard shop # 56 after 26 years he retired in 1985. He was a 45 year member of First Church Congregational in Rochester where served as head usher and general maintenance for the church. He was a boy scout and cub scout leader for 8 years with Pack 184. He was very active in N Bar H Riding Club for 30 years doing trail riding, horse shows and working the food booth with his wife. Members of his family include his wife of 59 years, Madeline (Hall) Goodwin of Farmington, his children; Janice Goodwin her fiancé Keith Kelchar, Derald Goodwin Jr and his wife Wanda of Milton, Shirley Sprague of Rochester, Pamela Bogdan and her husband Chuck of Berwick Me and Dwight Goodwin and his wife Karen of Farmington, 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, his brothers; John F. Goodwin III of Columbus GA, Wayne and Jeannette Goodwin of Rochester NH. He is predeceased by a grandson Justin Goodwin. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the First Church Congregation, South Main St, Rochester NH 03867 Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 22 , 2012 at 11am with visitation to be held one hour prior to the funeral in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St, Rochester NH Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery Following the funeral.
