Rochester - Doris C. Foss, 91, passed away Thursday August 2, 2012 at the Colonial Hill Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rochester. Born January 9, 1921 in Woonsocket, RI she was the daughter of Henry C. and Rose A. (Bassinet) Blanchard. While operating a dairy farm with her husband, she managed the entire preparation of milk for delivery to their customers as well as harvesting and preserving fruits and vegetables from their trees and large gardens. An excellent from-scratch cook and baker, her greatest joy was preparing food for her family. Her words of wisdom: "If you can read, you can do anything." She was an artist using the medium of chalks and oil paints. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, fishing, and hunting. The family is thankful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Pond View Acres in Barrington over the past few years and the Staff at the Colonial Hill care and Rehabilitation Center during Doris' final months. Members of her family include her daughters Pamela J. Oulton of Rochester, NH; and Felicia A. Hermann of Tuscon, AZ; her grandsons Robb J. Soucy and Harold J. Oulton, Jr. granddaughters Dawn J. Oulton and Margaret Konzcal, three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Norman E. Foss and her son Charles H. Foss. Family and friends may visit Saturday August 11, from 10 - 11AM at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A funeral service will follow at 11AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Rochester Cemetery following the service.
