ROCHESTER ; Earl W. Cook, 81, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at his home with his daughter at his side following a period of failing health.Born March 29, 1928, in Burriville, R.I., he was the son of the late Ralph and Hattie (Ide) Cook.Mr. Cook was the food service director with Concord Hospital for many years and later at Frisbie Memorial Hospital. Earl was a past master of the Masons Granite Lodge in Harrisville, R.I., and a member of the Humane Lodge in Rochester. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Rochester. He enjoyed music and singing. He was a member of many choirs and choruses and most known as a soloist. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Wentworth Hospice. Members of his family include his loving daughter, Laurie Cook of Apex, N.C., her partner, Kathy Moreland, who he loved as his own daughter; two beautiful grandchildren, Noah Lewis and Ella Grace Moreland, whom he loved dearly, of Apex, N.C.; one brother, Ralph Cook and his wife, Ruth, of Pascoag, R.I.; many nieces and nephews, and so many friends who were family to him.He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Beverly (Fraser) Cook in 2001.Family and friends may call Monday, Feb. 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester.A Celebration of his Life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church located on S.
