Epping- Edwin C. Thompson passed away peacefully at Exeter Hospital on October 6th, 2024,Epping Community after a brief illness.
Edwin was born on September 21, 1935, in Lewiston, Maine. He was the son of the late John F. Thompson and Mary Thompson (McLaughlin) of Milton, NH.
In his younger years, Edwin served in the United States Navy. After the navy, he worked as engineer for AT&T for many years, receiving six patents for his work with quartz crystal technology. Edwin loved spending time with his family, and had many skills, such as carpentry and mechanics, making clocks and restoring and maintaining his 1740 Colonial house.
Edwin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan Thompson (Ahern) and their three surviving children, John Thompson, of New York City, Karen Condylis and her husband Mitchell, of Hampton, NH; and James E. Thompson and his wife Stephanie, of Georgetown, MA. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Pomeroy, of Milton, NH; and his five grandchildren, Cameron, Lily, Sean, Emma and Mary Kate.
Edwin is Predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM in the chapel of the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery on Lowell St. in Rochester, following the service.
