Elizabeth A. Barton

March 13, 1940 — September 1, 2025

Concord – Elizabeth A. “Betty” Barton, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home, after a period of declining health.

Born on March 13, 1940, in Rochester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Carlisle and Hazel (Wishart) Lurvey.

Betty was a talented artist who found joy in sharing her creativity with others. She also worked as a caretaker, where her compassion and giving spirit touched many lives. Known for her love of yard sales and browsing the aisles of Goodwill, Betty had a knack for finding treasures in unexpected places. Above all, she will be remembered for her generous heart—always giving to others and yet often feeling she could never give enough.

Family meant everything to Betty. She is survived by her children, Barbara Barton of Hudson, MA; Lewis Barton, Jr. and his wife Paige of Stanley, NC; and Steve Barton and his wife Deborah of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Carlisle “Sonny” Lurvey, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at Cold Spring Cemetery in Rochester on Saturday at 10 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a local Humane Society in Betty’s memory.
