Alton Bay - Elizabeth Cartwright Smith, 82, entered peacefully into her eternal rest on Tuesday October 5, 2010, following a sudden, brief illness. Elizabeth was born on February 25, 1928 in Southport, England, she was a loving wife of 44 years, a dedicated mother, caring grandmother, sister and aunt. She took great joy in spending time with her family, Trixie Beagle, her beloved pet, and visits to the ocean. For the past 8 years she was a blessing to her Easthampton MA family and was a member of the Blessed Hope Women's Fellowship. People will always remember her fun comments and her quick English wit. Her generosity and her caring spirit will truly be missed. She leaves behind her children Richard Paige Smith, Jr and his wife Deborah of S. Berwick, ME; Paul Cartwright Smith and his wife Lori of East Rochester, NH; Elizabeth Ann Reaves and her husband Dr. Ricky L. Reaves of Oklahoma City, OK; and Laura Gail Taber and her husband Jon of Alton Bay, NH; seven grandchildren Breeanne, Taryn, Richard III, Stephen, Benjamin, Peter and Samuel, two great grandchildren Trevor and Ethan, one sister Frances Clingerman of Midwest City, OK; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Paige Smith, Sr. her daughter Helen Louise Smith and her brother George A. Cartwright. Family and friends may call Friday from 11AM - 1PM at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A funeral service will follow at 1PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association NH Office, One Bedford Farms Drive, Bedford, NH 03110, Cocheco Valley Humane Society, 262 County Farm Rd. Dover, NH 03868, or the Special Olympics NH, 650 Elm St. Manchester, NH 03101.
