Erma Clark

July 6, 1930 — April 8, 2017

Erma J. Clark - 86 of Strafford, NH went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2017.  She was born on July 6, 1930 in Malden, MA to the late Herbert and Edith (Murphy) Messenger.  She lived in Pubnico, Nova Scotia for 12 years before moving back to Malden.  After she graduated from Malden High in 1949 her family moved to Strafford and Erma moved to Washington DC to work for Capital Airlines. She moved to Strafford in 1952 to marry Errol, her beloved husband of 65 years.  She was very active in the community for the past 60 years.  Erma, Errol and their son Scott and his wife Paula were the original owners of the Isinglass Country Store which expanded from the Backyard Ice Cream and Snack Bar that was located in the Bow Lake Village. Erma loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors.  Erma was a very caring and giving person who loved her family and friends.   She is survived by her 5 children; Danny and his wife Lily Clark of Barnstead, NH, Nancy J. Goedker, Michael and his wife Wendy Clark, Steven Clark and Scott Clark all of Strafford, NH.  She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Radford Messenger, sisters Bertha Huckins and Dottie Longo all of Strafford, and her brother Herbie Messenger of Rochester, NH.   Her sister Myra Hodges and grandson Patrick Clark preceded her in death. ___________ A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Third Baptist Church of Strafford with Pastor Harold Muzzey, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hyder Family Hospice House or Strafford Food Pantry.
