Florence L Dostie

Rochester, NH - FLORENCE L. DOSTIE, beloved resident, passed away on May 11, 2022 at her home, at the age of 100.  She was the widow of Armand Dostie. Born in Laconia, NH on October 20, 1921 to her parents Emile and Olivine (Valliere) Guillemette who moved to Rochester when she was 10 years old. She became a devoted and caring mother of 4 children, entering into her honored role as mother during World War II, while her husband, Carl R. Chapman, Sr. served and gave his life to his country in Normandy, France.  She subsequently remarried and gave her heart to Armand Dostie, to whom she was blessed with 71 years of marriage.  Armand passed away on August 16, 2019, at the age of 98. She gave of her time generously in service to her community as a volunteer at Gerry's Food Pantry.  She was also nick-named the 'energizer bunny' and was very prideful of her home, being told she had the nicest looking yard on Rochester Hill. She was much admired by her family and friends for her fierce independence and strong spirit throughout her life in Rochester. Survivors include four children, Carl R. Chapman, Jr. of Dover, NH, Richard Dostie and wife Rita of Rochester, Nancy Ramsey and husband Paul of Lady Lake, Florida and Julie Rasch and fiance Butch Vachon of Strafford, NH.  Eight grandchildren include Gregory and Michael, Adam and Tom, Katherine, Stacy and Kelly, and Zachary.  Ten great-grandchildren include Nicholas and Corey, Emilia, Jonathan, Kyle, Bryan and Tyler, Mitchell and Ethan, and Aubrey. She is survived by one Sister, Anita Cassily of Rochester, NH and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Leona, Ovila, Raymond and Sonny and her beloved daughter-in-law Georgia (Bunki) Chapman. The family wishes to thank Rita St.Pierre for her excellent care in keeping Mom in her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, on May 24, 2022 at Holy Rosary Church, 189 North Main Street, Rochester, NH.  Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. in the Gathering Space with the funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to Gerry's Food Pantry or to St. Jude.
