Twitchell, Franklin New Durham- Franklin W. Twitchell, 84, a long time resident of New Durham died July 5, 2010 peacefully at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover. Franklin was the oldest son of Franklin W and Doris (Ramsdell) Twitchell. Franklin grew up in Rochester and became a long time resident of New Durham. He was the caretaker of Locke Lake Colony for twenty years. He was known for his horses whether he was logging with them back in the day or at horse shows with his children. He also raced horses with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. Showing and racing horses became a family tradition. You could always find Frank showing someone how to trim a hoof or sitting around telling horse stories. Frank enjoyed being around his family and friends. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Susan (Gilpatrick) Twitchell, along with his brothers William and wife Margaret of Somersworth, Harris and wife Charlotte of Rochester, Charles and wife Shirley of Nebraska, his sisters Barbara Hoffman of Rochester , Nancy Lemire and husband Maynard of Rochester. He also leaves behind many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years Nellie (Joy) Twitchell, his brother Delbert Twitchell, and three sisters Elizabeth Twitchell, Dorothy Thompson, and Agnes Guild.
