Rochester-Gail L. Belanger, 73, of 50 Leonard St. passed 1-13-2011 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover after a long courageous battle with colon cancer. Born August 31, 1937 in North Attleboro Ma she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Whiting) Germaine. Gail has lived in Rochester for the past 43 years after moving from Attleboro Ma. She was the general manager for Bootleggers (formerly known as Miltner's Shoe) for most of those years. More than 5 generations of customers were willing to wait for a fitting by her in particular because of her loving skills. Gail always went above and beyond for family gatherings and made every event a memorable one. She enjoyed gardening, boating on Winnipesaukee, floral design and crafts. She also enjoyed time spent at Lynn & Bruce's camp. She was most accomplished at creating happiness through her charm, smiles and boundless sincerity. Anyone who had ever met Gail remembers her as a very special person. Some of her best shopping adventures were when the weatherman was predicting "Gail" Warnings, a little inside joke that we always teased her about. Gail maintained the neatest yard on Leonard St in which her daughter Lynn was married and where endless Easter egg hunts and many other celebrations occurred. Members of her family include former husband Donald Belanger, her son, Michael Belanger and his wife Karen of Palm Beach Gardens Fl., her daughters; Donna Lavoie and her husband Craig of Somersworth and Lynn Littlefield and her husband Bruce of Rochester, her grandchildren Jessica and Alex Belanger of Palm Beach Gardens Fl, Christopher Lavoie and his wife Lyn of Gonic, Matthew Lavoie and his wife Kellen of Rochester, Kristin Dunbar of Alfred, ME and Brent Littlefield of Rochester, a long-time friend Derrill Ordway as well as 6 great grandchildren, BJ, Alex, Cassie, Andy, Bryce & Ava Lavoie, her sister Faye Langille and brother Joseph Germaine, Jr. Services will be held at R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester, NH on Monday January 17th with calling hours from 11-1 PM and the services to follow immediately. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Gail's honor to Hyder Family Hospice House of Dover, American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
