Rochester - Gladys Spurling, 101, passed away Thursday April 11, 2013 at Colonial Hill of Rochester following a period of failing health. Born July 9, 1911 in Woburn, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Jennie (Wentworth) Worster. Gladys grew up in Maine and NH, she attended Brewster Free Academy in Wolfeboro for 18 months and had to walk almost 5 miles to catch the train to the school. She was proud of her Wentworth heritage. She was a descendant of William Wentworth, mid 17th century, and held personal memories of her grandfather George Wentworth, a Civil War Veteran. During WWII she delivered mail twice a day in rural Wakefield and Ossipee for 5 years. She later moved to Gonic and worked at Clarostat in Dover, and after worked for her second husband Robert as the bookkeeper for his garage. They moved to Florida in 1969 and after Robert retired in 1989 they spent their winters there and summers in NH.
