Epping, NH - Harry Stephen "Woody" Wood, 83, of Debbi Lane, journeyed home to Jesus on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Born March 12, 1942, in Lynn, MA, Woody was the cherished son of the late Edward and Faith (Meader) Wood. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service, surrounded by both his blood and chosen families. Woody led a vibrant life filled with faith, adventure, and dedication to all. His unwavering love for Jesus was reflected in his commitment to his church family at First Baptist Church of Greater Rochester, where his spirit found solace and community. He found joy in gardening, hunting and fishing, and he treasured the simple pleasures of reading and dining out. However, his greatest source of happiness was spending quality time with his beloved family, with whom he fulfilled lifelong dreams, including a trip exploring the Grand Canyon and sailing around the islands of Denmark, thus creating cherished memories that will endure through generations. A dedicated servant to his country, Woody served with honor in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a master sergeant before he went on to work as an instructor at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard; after which, he became a self-taught computer programmer traveling the world as a consultant for Cabletron/Enterasys. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career, as he continued to serve his community in various charitable endeavors. Woody touched countless lives with his kindness and compassion. He thoroughly enjoyed being State Dad at the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls; and, following in his forefathers' footsteps, he enjoyed the many years of fellowship with the Masonic lodges. He was a beloved Deacon and ran collections for Operation Christmas Child at the FBC of Gr. Rochester. Woody's journey was marked by both joy and sorrow, having been preceded in life by his first wife, Mary Alice Ott Wood, daughter Marcia Lynn Wood, grandsons Kennard Chaffee, Caleb and Zachary Martin, and sister Gail "Penny" Zittel McCabe. He is survived by his devoted wife of 17 years, Monique (Dube Foye) Wood of Epping, and his children: Faith (Dan) Seguin of Holly Mount, NC; Stephen (Carolee) Wood of Rochester, NH; Jennifer (Kim) Nielsen of Hoersholm, Denmark, Scandinavia; Scott (Jessica) Wood of Sanford, ME and step daughter Christine (Brian) Martin, Epping NH; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Woody's life will be held on July 20, 2024 at 10:00, at the First Baptist Church of Greater Rochester, 25 Church Street, Rochester (Gonic) NH, 03839. Woody's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.
