Helen Grenier of East Rochester passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday August 3rd, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born in Haverhill MA to C. Leo & Gertrude Taffe and moved to Rochester at the age of 8. She was a graduate of Spaulding High School. She married Armand Grenier in 1950 and shared 53 wonderful and loving years with him as they raised their three children and welcomed nine grandchildren to the family. Helen & Armand enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and being home together. Helen started working for the Rochester School Lunch Program as a cook in the 1960's. Alumni of the East Rochester Schools rave about her chocolate cake to this day! Eventually she worked her way up the ladder to be the Food Service Director in Rochester. She truly loved the work that she did for the children of this city. She is survived by her 3 children and their spouses: Patrice Nickerson and Thomas, Lawrence Grenier and Kellie, Pamela Sewell and Peter, also her sister Mary Carpenter and husband Roger. Gram cherished the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they meant the world to her. She always looked forward to spending birthdays and holidays with them. Her grandchildren include Meredith Walters, Timothy Grenier, Katrina LeTourneau, Philip Sewell, Samuel Grenier, and Christopher Nickerson. Great-grandchildren are Jaylynn and Cody Grenier, Kaylee and Zachary Sewell , Benjamin Walters, Briana and Mikaela Nickerson, and Tyler Cunningham. Several nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren also survive her. She was predeceased by her husband Armand, her brother Joseph L. Taffe, and 3 grandchildren, Zachary Grenier, Jared Grenier, and Kirsten (Sewell) Cunningham. Helen was a communicant of St. Mary Church for 85 years. The church is located at 71 Lowell St., Rochester, NH. Her calling hours will begin in the foyer at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 13th and be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00, interment in the adjacent cemetery, and a luncheon in the parish gathering room.
