Helene Carle

November 6, 1949 — July 17, 2022

Helene Carle, 72, of Dover, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 17, 2022. Helene grew up in Somersworth, NH where she attended Somersworth High School. During her high school years she was a very active member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She belonged to Dover Assembly #14 where she held many offices including Worthy Advisor. Helene graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1971 with a BS in Elementary Education. While at USM she became a founding member in Phi Mu Sorority. After graduating, she married her husband of 51 years, Paul. They settled in Dover where they raised their two girls. Helene taught first and second grade at Eliot Elementary School in Maine for 36 years before retiring. In retirement, she substituted at St. Mary Academy in Dover for 10 years. Helene was an avid reader and genealogist. She thoroughly enjoyed her weekly ceramics classes. She loved visiting the Nubble lighthouse and dining out. Her favorite place being Harvey's Coffee Shop in Dover. Helene is survived by her husband Paul, daughters Diane (Chris) Towle of Rochester, Amy (Chris) Fuller of Winthrop ME, grandsons Sam & Ian Fuller, granddog Vinnie, as well as her best friend of 67 years Karen Mullis, and special cousin Judy White. Helene is predeceased by her parents, Richard and Marlene Evans, and her brother John Evans. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Barbara Civiello and the cancer care team at WDH, Dover Rescue, and the staff at Cornerstone Healthcare & Hospice. Family and friends may visit Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 11-12 PM at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH. The funeral will follow at 12:00PM in the chapel of the funeral home . Donations in Helene's memory can be made to Amy's Treat, a non-profit organization that supports Seacoast cancer patients, at www.amystreat.org.
