Irene B. Berry

June 10, 1931 — August 18, 2017

Irene B. Berry Dover, NH-Irene Bella (Lampron) Berry, 86, died Friday, August 18th at Riverside Rest Home, surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born on June 10, 1931, in Wolfeboro, NH, the daughter of Wilfred and Yvonne (Lacasse) Lampron and she was one of ten children. She was married to Raymond "Red" Berry for 35 years. Irene and Red were both born on King Street in Wolfeboro and lived there together until his passing in 1987. They enjoyed attending American Legion conventions, music and dancing together. At the end of a night of dancing, Red would have the band play "Goodnight, Irene" and he would sing along as they danced together. Irene loved to travel with her daughter Nancy and spend days at Old Orchard Beach enjoying each others company. Memere loved living next door to Nancy and her family, watching her grandchildren Raymond and Cheryl grow up. She also loved being "Old Memere" to her great-grandsons, RJ and Mason. Irene worked as a supervisor at Wolfeboro Mills for most of her working career. She retired with plans to enjoy time with her family and to travel, however missed working and was back at work within a couple of weeks! In the year 2000, she moved to Rochester, NH with Nancy and her family. Shortly after moving, she began working at the Rochester, NH Walmart as a greeter, where she welcomed everyone with a smile, a hug and a "good to see you" until her retirement. Irene then attended the adult day program with the Homemakers in Rochester, where she loved visiting with everyone and even won four bronze medals competing in the Olympics! Irene loved "putting around" on projects around the house with Red in her spare time. After his passing, she enjoyed going out to breakfast and to yard sales with her friends. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and over the past few years she enjoyed welcoming the troops with the Pease Greeters. Despite struggling with dementia over the past few years, Irene remained happy and positive and always had a smile on her face. She loved life and each and every person that she encountered. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Alice, Mary, Leo and Robert. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Thibodeau; her grandchildren, Raymond Thibodeau and Cheryl Thibodeau; great-grandsons RJ and Mason; her siblings, Rev. Maurice Lampron, Theresa Thomas, Annette Kimball, Richard Lampron and Jane Mahon; many nieces and nephews and countless people who loved her and called her "Memere". Irene and Red have now resumed their dancing and singing, as husband and wife, forever in love. "Goodnight Irene, Goodnight Irene. I'll see you in my dreams". Irene's family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Rest Home for their love, compassion and for being her second family over the past few years. Thank you for loving our Memere. Memorial donations may be made to the Pease Greeters in Portsmouth, NH. Arrangements are entrusted to the R.M. Edgerly Funeral Home of Rochester, NH. Calling Hours will be Monday from 5-7pm at the funeral home and a funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Church on Tuesday at 11am. A reception will be held at the parish hall immediately following and a private burial will be held at a later date.
