Irene Stenhouse

Irene Elizabeth Stenhouse, formally of 99 East Avenue, Westerly, RI, passed away at the age of 101 on June 21, 2017 at the Riverside Rest Home, Dover NH.     She was born on March 3, 1916 in Stonington, CT to Manuel and Amelia Pont the youngest of their twelve children.     She was predeceased by her husband R.Burnie Stenhouse, former Chief of the Westerly Police Department and her son, R. Gary Stenhouse of Rochester, NH;  She is survived by her son Robert Stenhouse Jr,. wife Anne of Southport, NC, granddaughter Laura Posecznick, husband Terry, great grand-daughters Emily and Paige of Skaneateles, NY; grandson Robert Stenhouse III, wife Julie, and great grand-daughter Caroline of Corte Madera, CA;  Todd Stenhouse, wife Sandy and twin great grand-children Jack and Avery of Citrus Heights, CA;  Daughter in -Law Donna Stenhouse of Rochester NH;   granddaughter Emily Burega, husband Scott and great-grand-children Charlie and Matthew of Pittsfield, MA; granddaughter Amy Goodwin and great-grandchildren Julia and Michael of Chevy Chase, MD; and several nieces and nephews   She was a loving, dedicated and supportive Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother with her family being the centerpiece of her life.    Always willing to help others, she was a member of the Westerly Hospital Aid, volunteered at the Westerly Adult Center, belonged to the Westerly Senior Center, enjoyed quilting,and was the organizer of a bridge group, a game she loved to play.   She will be sorely missed by her family and all who came in contact with her.   Cremation is under the care of the R.M.
