Jack Wingate

January 25, 1936 — December 17, 2024

Rochester- Jack (John Thomas) Wingate passed away after a period of failing health on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home in Rochester.

Jack was born January 25, 1936, in Stoneham, Massachusetts to the late Lillie (Moran) Wingate and Fred Wingate.

Jack played football at Spaulding High School where he was among the team who played in the first Shriners Football Game, graduating in 1954. His record for throwing the javelin lasted many years. Jack graduated from Wentworth Institute with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He found his calling traveling around New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine as a technical representative.

Jack was an avid enthusiast of Garden scale model trains, spending countless hours building layouts to accompany his many stone walls at camp and at home. He would always rather work outside, riding his tractor, where he found joy and peace. Some of his most treasured moments were spent at the family’s camp on Rattlesnake Island, surrounded by the beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee, sharing laughter and creating lifelong memories with loved ones.

Jack is survived by his loving wife Martha (Finnigan) Wingate; and their two daughters, Kirsten Dawson and her husband Carl, of Williamsburg, Virginia; and Karla Davis, and her husband, Jeff, of Bumpass, Virginia. Jack is also survived by his three grandchildren, Jack, Kaallie, and Brady.

In keeping with Jack Wingate’s wishes there will be no services.
