Sanford, ME/Rochester, NH - James J. Fabiano, 94, passed away Tuesday May 27, 2014 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford Maine following a period of failing health. Born May 14, 1920 in Revere, MA he was the son of the late Felix and Margaret (Defoe) Fabiano. Mr. Fabiano served in the US Navy during WWII as a Radioman. He saw action in the Europen-African- Middle Eastern Theatre. James worked in sales for many years ending his career with Metrocast Cablevision at the age of 90. In 2005, he was selected as a New Hampshire Outstanding Older Worker and an Honoree for 2005 by Experience Works. He was also a member on the American Legion, and St Mary's Church in Rochester, NH. James enjoyed playing cards, officiating football, baseball and basketball games. He is a member of the Somersworth High School baseball, football and basketball Hall of Fame. Two of his most prominent quotes were; "FANTASTIK" and when told to have a "good day" he would respond with "and you have a better one." Members of his family include his wife Claire (David) Fabiano of Whitesboro, NY; his children Nancy Maxwell and husband Paul of Whitesboro, NY; Maureen Munno and husband Thomas of Atlanta, GA; James Fabiano and wife Deborah of York, ME; and John Fabiano of Boston, MA; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by fourteen brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank the staff at Greenwood Center, in particular BJ and Cindy for their loving care of our father and husband, James. Also, we want to thank Krista with Life Choice Hospice for organizing Dad's 94th birthday celebration at Greenwood Center. He thoroughly enjoyed the Harbor singers and their rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame." Family and friends may visit Sunday June 1, from 2-6PM at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rochester. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
