James S. Mccallion

Rochester – James S. McCallion (Mac), 78, passed away Tuesday August 12, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Born June 6, 1947, in Rochester, NH he was the son of the late Neil and Bertha Mae (Scott) McCallion.

Jim graduated from Spaulding High School in 1965 and was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict; after his service he was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard working there for 40 years in Shop 71. After retirement, he enjoyed meeting with the other retirees for breakfast once a month. In his free time, over a period of several years he coached little league baseball and softball and served as president for the Rochester Girls Softball League. Jim was also a lifetime member of the Rochester Elks Lodge.

Members of his family include his wife Linda (Gennari) McCallion of Rochester, NH; his daughter Jodi McCallion of Rochester, NH; his stepchildren Heidi Rodenhuis of Rochester, NH; Mark Main of Milton, NH; Matthew Main and wife Maria of Rochester, NH; and Jeffrey McCallion and wife Kim of Manchester, NH along with several nieces and nephews. Jim loved his family dearly, and was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren Sierra, Evan, Mason, Jacqueline, Cassandra, Zachary and Cooper.

A celebration of life will be held at the Rochester Elks Lodge on September 21, 2025 beginning at 1 PM for those who would like to attend.
