James B. Valyo, 78, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born on November 16, 1946, in Long Island, NY, Jim was the beloved son of the late Michael Valyo and Alice (Allen) Dolecki. He was raised in Norwood, NY, where he established enduring friendships, a life full of energy, service, and devotion to family.
Jim proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1965 to 1969 as a Chief Petty Officer and telephone technician aboard the Icebreakers Chase and Westwind. His service took him to Cuba and Greenland, and he was honorably discharged in Newburyport, MA, where he began raising his family.
Following his military service, Jim built a successful 30-year career in telecommunications, retiring as a Construction Foreman and Cable Splicer with Verizon.
