James (Jimmy) Vatistas, age 67, unexpectedly passed away on September 12, 2024, after a brief illness while surrounded by his loving family at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pamela Vatistas; Jimmy will be dearly loved and sorely missed by Pamela.
James was born in Portsmouth, NH on May 18, 1957 and graduated from Portsmouth High in 1975. He was the son of the late Gregory and Demetra (Grimbilas) Vatistas. Jimmy worked at J.J. Nissan for 18 years; and more recently worked as a driver for Fed Ex for 10 years, where he received many awards for his safe driving and his work ethic. He also owned JV Sign Installation for 11 years.
James was known for being a family man, for his sense of humor, and his famous words to his wife, “Yes, Dear.” He wasn’t one to be the center of attention but, when needed, he was always the willing one to show up. He was known as “the Gentle Giant” by his daughter Sarah Vatistas.
He is pre-deceased by his oldest brother Peter Vatistas and surviving spouse Elena of Clearwater, Florida. He is survived by his brothers Chrisanthos Vatistas (who’s late wife was Mary Vatistas) of Portsmouth, Virginia; and, Greg Vatistas and his wife Roxanne, of Rochester, NH. He also leaves behind his children Sarah Vatistas, Paul Winch and spouse Danielle Winch, Kimberly Gervais and spouse Christopher Gervais. Jimmy also has grandchildren: Blazah Connors, Allison Winch, Hailey Winch, Travis “TJ” Pelletier Jr., Dustin Gervais, Courtney McPhee and Spouse Dakota McPhee.
Jimmy is so loved and will be missed by his extended family, friends, co-workers, and clients.
