Janie Sarah Peavey

July 14, 1921 — September 16, 2012

ROCHESTER, New Hampshire - Janie Sarah Peavey, who was known for her selfless giving, great sense of humor and that infectious smile that would melt anyone's heart died Sunday, September 16 in Dover, New Hampshire after a short battle with pneumonia. She was 91. Born in Alvarado, Texas Sarah, as she was known by family and friends, grew up during the great depression in Burleson, Texas. She was the youngest of six kids, with two brothers and three sisters.. She met her future husband of 50 years, George L. Peavey, an Army Air Corp glider pilot during World War II, in Fort Worth, Texas. After marrying Sarah traveled the US, Central and South America as an Air Force Officer's wife with her husband and their two children, Michael and Suzanne where she was very active in the Officer's Wives Club. The family lived in Maine, Texas and the Panama Canal Zone. On her husband's retirement from duty, Rochester became home for the last 48 years where Sarah fittingly took on a career as a Travel Agent at the Richardson and Webb Agency in Dover and George became a beloved teacher at Spaulding High. The list of her loves in life are simple: her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her daily phone calls with her sister Ruth, frequent visits from her niece Sandra, yellow roses, playing cards and dominos with friends, making her VERY famous Southern fried chicken for anyone who visited, being an active member of the Trinity Anglican Church, giving her grand daughter tips on recipes and sewing, and loving so much to go to the many basket ball games of her grandsons! Family was always first for Sarah Peavey. And the list could go on and on but, in turn, she was the love of so many around her with a smile you could feel miles from her house on Anita Street. Sarah Peavey is survived by Michael Peavey and Amy Nauss of Boston, Suzanne and Peter Doyle of Farmington, NH, her grandchildren Milo (Peavey) Werner, William Robinson, Evan and Reece Doyle, her Great Grandchildren Fletcher and Laurel Werner, her beloved sister Ruth Ellis of Atlanta and loved and remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Anglican Church in Rochester at 11am. on Thursday, September 27th with Internment immediately following.
