Joan Lightfoot

May 19, 1941 — October 14, 2024

“Home Going” notice! In the early morning hours of October 5th, 2024 in Brooksville, FL the Lord saw fit to usher this dear Saint into the glorious arms of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of eighty-three.
She was born to Robert and Nancy Whitney in Melrose, MA in 1941 and is survived by her two sisters, Virginia Whitney, Linda Weldy-Hively, her daughters Christine Archie and Marylee Mason, her sons John and Ronald Evans, and her stepsons, Chad, Clint, and Cody Lightfoot. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved, and they all loved her dearly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Lightfoot, her brother William Whitney, and her daughter Nancy Poulin. Joan adored her family, and they adored her.
After a long career as the head Bookkeeper for Burgon Tool Steel in Portsmouth, NH where she had the privilege of working with two of her daughters, she retired and moved to the Florida area from Farmington, NH in 1998. She resided in Clearwater, FL for many years while spending summers in New Hampshire with her family. She was well known throughout her community as a kind and loving person who always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a sweet “hello”. She was also known for offering a cup of tea on occasion to her friends. She was a true patriot who loved her country and was passionate about politics.
Joan was an avid line dancer and most of her free time was spent teaching classes as an instructor both in Florida and New Hampshire. She loved to read and could always be found outside watering her flowers. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds around her home, and she always found time to take the grandkids to Honeymoon Island and take in a gulf coast sunset. She loved going to Church and was a faithful attendee at Calvary Chapel – St. Petersburgh. She was passionate about worshiping her Lord and hardly ever missed a Sunday service.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 at Grace Community Church located at 57 Wakefield St. in Rochester, NH.
Flowers can be sent to Edgerly Funeral Home at 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867.
