John J. Breen

Strafford - John J. Breen, Jr. 69, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at (unofficially) 11:11pm at the Hyder Family Hospice House following a long illness. He's thankful that the whole ordeal is over with and is already back in the boat casting for lunkers. John was born March 3, 1942 in Everett, MA, son of the late John and Estelle Breen, Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served our country with great pride. He later made his living as a self-employed carpenter. John was an avid fisherman, traveling around the country to compete in national tournaments, and introducing young children to the sport through the Casting with Kids program. He also enjoyed bluffing his own children, then beating them without mercy, in games of Texas Hold'em. Loved members of his family include his children, John Breen and wife Cindy of Dover, NH, Kevin Breen of Seattle, WA, and Charlee Breen of Rochester, NH; two grandchildren, Ian and Akire; three sisters, Ethel Marino of Middleton, MA, Barbara Harnois of Manchester, NH, and Diane Horvath of Saugus, MA; two nieces, Barbie and Karen; and his favorite nephew in the world - Paul. Family and friends may call Sunday, February 12, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, NH. A short, graveside service will be held Monday at 12:30pm sharp at the NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Christen Foundation, 5959 Sherwood Forest Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, 70816. Please reference "Hyder House" in the check's memo field.
