Rochester- John A. Cafasso, 38 Broad Street, passed away after a brief illness on April 2, 2012 Born in Everett, MA. He was the son of Joseph Cafasso and Lillian Malta Cafasso. Married to Irene Foss Cafasso for 65 years. He attended Malden High School and Northeastern University. He served 3 years in WW II as a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps as a navigator in B-17's and B-29's. After the military service he and Irene moved to Rochester. He was the cofounder of Tri-State Gas and Supply Co. Inc. which was sold to Eastern Propane Gas in 1969. He stayed on at Eastern as Sales Manager until his retirement. John was active in many civic affairs. He served as director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Profile Bank, was president of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the board at the Rochester Housing Authority and director of the Greater Rochester Development Corporation. He served as a director of the Rochester Country Club, Rochester Kiwanis, Rochester Salvation Army Advisory Board, , NE Gas Association .and National LP Gas Association. He was recipient of the 1969 Rochester Jaycee's "Boss of the Year." Survivors include his daughter Janice and husband Robin of Needham MA. Son John and wife Cindy of Barrington NH, Grandchildren Christian Goldsmith and wife Joyce of Auburn Alabama, Tudor Goldsmith of Portland Maine and Scott Cafasso and wife Amanda of Rochester NH. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren, Jessica Robin Goldsmith and Theodore James Goldsmith of Auburn Alabama. In his younger years John enjoyed skiing, golfing, fishing and hunting. He and Irene traveled extensively in their later years. He was predeceased by his wife Irene, sisters Janette Weeks and Marie Covino. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867 A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10 AM in the chapel of the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867 with Fr. Dan Sinibaldi as officiant. Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester, NH
