John H. Carpenter, 87, of Rochester, NH, passed away at the Rochester Manor on May 15, 2017 after a period of failing health. Born in Rochester, NH on December 27, 1929, he was the son of Herbert and Edrie Carpenter. He was a lifelong resident of Rochester. After graduating from Spaulding High School and serving in the Korean War, John worked for Verizon until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Masons since 1960. He was also an officer in the Cold Spring Cemetery Association for many years. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Carpenter; a daughter, Jan Maxfield and her husband David; a son, John Carpenter; grandson, Justin Carpenter and step-children: K.C. St Clair and his wife Sara; Brenda Niland; Sharon Harris and her husband, Larry; Carol Stark and her husband, Joe; James St Clair; Kelly Bilodeau and her husband, Romeo and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Brad; a sister Evelyn Canney and daughter-in-law, Angi Carpenter. SERVICES: Family and friends may visit on Friday, May 19th from 12:00-1:00pm at Edgerly's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm in the Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Cold Spring Cemetery in East Rochester.
